While the promotional drama surrounding its actors led to an unusual firestorm of attention
in the press and across social media, Wilde’s psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” still turned a profit off a modest budget upon its release in September. After a tumultuous 2021 saw Warner Bros. films hit streaming and theaters at the same time ahead of WarnerMedia’s 2022 merger with Discovery, “Don’t Worry Darling” is a good reminder that the studio doesn’t necessarily need to double down on tentpoles galore under its new owner. Up next for Wilde is “Perfect,” a feature for Searchlight examining the true story of U.S. Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug, as well as an untitled film for the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel characters. She’s still acting, too, turning up this holiday among Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon” ensemble.
