Boxing

BOXING Boxing is a martial art and combat sport where two people throw punches with gloved hands at each ohter. The equipment are boxing gloves and wrist wraps. The fighting takes place in a ring. THE RESULT IS DECIDED The result is decided when an opponent is deemed incapable to continue by a referee, is disqualified for breaking a rule, resigns by throwing in a towel, or based on the judges' scorecards at the end of the contest. Conflicts by refusing military In 1967, Ali refused to be inducted into the U.S. military, based on his religious beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges, stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not imprisoned, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his appeal worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was successful. Times are hard his father and brother spend their days on the picket lines clashing with the police while Billy takes care of his senile grandmother. Billy's mother has passed away. Life has made Billy a sensitive and mature boy. His father forces him to study boxing to make him into his own image. Billy isn't interested in expressing himself with his fists, he has taken some ballet classes next door, run by Mrs Wilkinson. With the encouragement of ballet teacher Mrs Wilkinson he joins in with the classes and starts to express himself through dance. But Billy knows that if his father or brother would find this out, they wouldn't like it. With the adults busy with their own problems, Billy is able to keep his new activity a secret ... for awhile.

The main character is this 11-year-old boy named Billy, played by Jamie Bell. His life is quite miserable as he lives in a small town with his father and an older brother. His father forces him to go boxing to continue a family tradition of boxers, but Billy is not really good at it and he doesn't like it either. Then suddenly Billy finds himself a new hobby he actually enjoys and that is ballet. There is a small ballet group in this town, taught by Ms Wilkinson (Julie Walters). from the Christmas dinner. Sometimes a luscious pie is made of ham and turkey with layers of mashed potatoes and gravy. The plum pudding is reheated in a little butter in a heavy frying pan. Traditionally, pantomime plays are performed on St. Stephen's day, in which women play the men's roles and vice- versa. In Dublin there are usually several plays going on with subjects including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, and Babes in the Wood. On St. Stephen's Day, which is also known as Boxing Day, it's customary to give small gifts, usually of cash, to the milkman, mailman, and others who perform services throughout the year. Epiphany: The official end of the Christmas season in Ireland occurs on January 6th, the Feast of Epiphany, or Feast of the Magi (also known as "Little Christmas"). This is the day when all Christmas decorations are taken down, and the last festive dinner is served.

felt on being treated as a Jew at Princeton. (See Important Quotations Explained) The novel begins with Jake Barnes, the novel's narrator and protagonist, describing Robert Cohn. Cohn was born to a wealthy Jewish family in New York. At Princeton, Cohn faced rampant anti-Semitism. To minimize his feelings of inferiority and to combat his shyness, he threw himself into boxing, becoming the university's middleweight champion. He married very soon after his graduation, on the rebound from his unhappy college experience. He and his wife had three children. Cohn lost most of his fifty-thousand-dollar inheritance, and, after five years, his wife left him, just when he had made up his mind to walk out on her. After the divorce, Cohn moved to California. There, he began spending time with a literary crowd, and he soon began backing a magazine

Prague(praha)

Wenceslas was the 'Good King Wenceslas' of the well-known Christmas carol written in 1853 by English clergyman John Mason Neale. Neale, a scholar of eastern European church history, had read about St Wenceslas' legendary piety, and based his carol on the story of the duke's page finding strength and warmth by following in the footsteps of his master as they carried food, wine and firewood to a poor peasant on a freezing cold Boxing Day. The unfortunate Wenceslas was murdered by his own brother, Boleslav; the Chapel of St Wenceslas in St Vitus Cathedral is decorated with scenes from the saint's life. In 950 the German king Otto I conquered Bohemia and incorporated it into the Holy Roman Empire. By 993 Pemysl princes had forged a genuine Slav alliance, and ruled Bohemia on the Germans' behalf until 1212, when the pope granted Otakar I the right to rule as a king.

I usually spend my winter holidays in the country where I ski, skate or toboggan. I also go in for track-and-field (athletics) events. Different sports and games are popular with my classmates. All my friends go in for different kinds of sport, such as water polo, gymnastics, horse-racing, wrestling, fencing, weightlifting, boxing, ice-hockey, speed- skating, figure-skating, football, basket-ball, volley-ball, etc. We have fine teams at our school and different kinds of competitions take place there. The boys of my school are crazy about football, they play football and the girls are football fans. The girls never miss a single match played by school teams. And now a few words about our physical training lessons. In winter our physical training lessons are held out-of-doors. We go skiing or skating
