Traditionally we use MS paint as drawing tool. But there are many drawing software’s apart from them. Tux paint is one of the most famous software used for drawing purposes

Tux Paint is used in schools around the world as a computer literacy drawing activity. It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program. Kids are presented with a blank canvas and a variety of drawing tools to help them be creative.

 Tux paint is introduced by Bill Kendrick in 2002, Tux is free and open source software specially introduce for young children, it is a raster graphics editor(a program that allows users to create and edit image interactively on the computer screen and save them in JPEG, PNG, GIF.) Tux use in operating system like Linux, Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, BeOS and other platforms as well.

Tux paint is a typical graphics editing software which is design for young as 3 year of age children, feature that help user to understand how software works are the user interface( where human and computer interact), icons, audible feedback and textual hints and bright colors, sound effects and cartoon mascot helps in engaging children.

 Basic drawing tools include a paintbrush, an eraser and tools to draw lines, polygonal shapes and test, undo and redo option also available in order to remove accidental or unwanted changes while editing a picture.

 In Tux paint user does not require to provide file name or browse for where to place it, with the help to thumbnails(reduced size version of picture or videos) user can select file he/ she want.

Advanced drawing tools include different types of filters and special effects which can be applied to drawing such as blurring, fading and making the picture look as though it was drawn in chalk and pavement all these are available through the magic tools in Tux paint, Magic tools are built as plug-ins that are loaded at runtime and use a CAPI specifically for creating such tools. Large collection of artwork and photographic imagery are also available

 Parental and teacher controls allows them to disable features and alter the behavior to better suit their children or student needs, typical options such as enabling or disabling sound effects and full screen mode are available. There are also options that help to make Tux paint suitable for younger or disabled children such as display text using uppercase letters or ignoring the distinction between buttons on the mouse.

Tux paint has been translate into 130 numerous language and has support of the display of text in languages that use non-Latin character sets such as Japanese, Greek or Telugu, Tux has its own method support allows to enter non-Latin characters using the Text tool.
