I recently got my Pittsburgh tattoo!
A little fact about me is that, for every place I move to, I get a tattoo to represent it, and this one has been exceptionally special.
Moving to Pittsburgh - and this whole chapter of my life in general - has been a completely new chapter for me, one that's definitely taken me out of my comfort zone.
I always say that I'm a people person. I'm very people oriented, I love being around others, connecting, having conversations, sharing ideas, and getting to know the other minds I'm sharing space with.
So working remotely, and moving to a completely new place on top of that, has required some adjustment.
And that's not a bad thing at all. If anything, this whole season of life has shown me what I value and what I don't, and has been a really good experience overall.
I can also say that I've managed to find opportunities for fulfilling my human-centric needs.
Through networking events and an amazing co-working space that I can physically be present in with other people, I've found the closest thing to what I can call a community in my new home state. And it's been incredibly helpful for me on both a personal and professional level. (Shoutout to AscenderPGH, Samuel Bender)
The takeaway here is very simple - you always have to push yourself outside of your comfort zone, even if it is in small increments. You can then go back, regroup, step out of that box again, and repeat that cycle.
It’s how you can progress in life; maybe slowly, but surely. #community
