Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the star of Starz’s Magic City, is joining Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell in Solace, the supernatural thriller being directed by Afonso Poyart.
The story centers on a former doctor with psychic abilities (Hopkins) who is drawn into a serial-killer case, only to find that the killer (Farrell) is a psychic as well — so the two men can detect each other’s moves.
Morgan is playing a veteran FBI agent heading the investigation of a series of grisly murders. He recruits Hopkins’ character to help catch the killer.
Peter Morgan, who wrote The Queen and Frost/Nixon, penned the most recent draft of the script, which also has seen work from Sean Bailey, Ted Griffin and James Vanderbilt.

Shooting is due to start May 20 in Detroit. Matthias Emcke, Claudia Bluemhuber, Gerd Schepers and Jacob Pechenik are exec producing.
Morgan, who played the Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and broke hearts in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, next stars on the big screen with Chloe Moretz and Jessica Biel in The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Magic City returns for its second season this summer.
Morgan is repped by UTA, Rob Gomez of Precision Entertainment, and attorney Stuart Rosenthal of Bloom Hergott.
