The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind remake trailer is frighteningly good

It’s incredibly unlikely that Bethesda will remake Morrowind any time soon, despite remakes being all the rage right now. That being said, we can turn to fan-made projects to get an idea of what a potential Morrowind remake might look like.

Bethesda is incredibly busy providing post-launch support to Starfield. We know that the Shattered Space expansion is set to release at some point, although we have no idea what it’s about or when we can expect it. Devs are also working on adding quality-of-life features like city maps. To date, the patch updates have been rather lacklustre, instead focusing on small technical and visual improvements. Still, we know the longevity of Bethesda games and Starfield is merely in its infancy. I expect big things in the game’s future. After Starfield, we have The Elder Scrolls VI but for those hoping to revisit Morrowind, you may have to settle for this fan-made remake.

I don’t want to undersell just how incredible this project is. Skywind is a total conversion mod of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, essentially turning it into Morrowind - and the progress the team has made on this is dazzling. In the latest trailer for the project, the team has been showing off the Corprus disease which, needless to say, is not something you’re going to want to contract. As reported by PC Gamer, the disease blows in from Morrowind’s Ashlands, infecting the minds and damaging the flesh of those who encounter it.

If you contract Corprus, you’ll become a Corprus Stalker - and these deadly beings take centre stage in the latest Skywind trailer. Skywind is still in development so unfortunately, you cannot dive in just yet, but you can enjoy the trailer below just to get an idea of how high quality this formidable project is.

“So immensely excited to finally acquire Skywind. Simply do not care how long it takes - the prospect of experiencing Morrowind through the Creation Engine is something I continue to look forward to,” one fan wrote, while another said, “Ace voice acting. Quite a bit more impact than when I'm broad scan-reading dialogue boxes. Can't wait to dive into the final result.” We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
