Homemade cowl induction hood. With pics

I didn't like the price or the style of any aftermarket cowl induction hoods for my truck so I made my own and had a buddy paint it for me.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here.. You cut the center out of a stock hood, and welded in the vertical faces on the sides? That actually looks pretty killer and ingenious.

Thanks guys. Yes that's exactly what I did. I added this sides and when I did I set the bottom over an inch so the sides lean in to the center of the hood.

I may, or may not, "borrow" that idea from you.
You just cut it up to the crease in the front of the hood?
I had actually thought about taking another hood and cutting the middle out of it and making a scoop, but I think a cowl hood looks a lot cooler than a scoop.

Yeah. I wanted to keep the body line on the very front of the hood. I made a 28" wide cut. in hide sight I should have made it wider as it went back but it's still the only truck around here with anything like it for a hood.

I think it looks good being just the same width all the way back. It follows the other lines in the hood better that way I think.
Anyway, good job man.

That's what I have been contemplating doing for the last few months. Have any pics of the underside of the hood and looking through the windshield for
Inside

Good work on the hood.

On a totally different topic, what did you use for your fender flares? They look good.

Thanks guys.
I don't particularly like them but I can't afford the bushwacker flares or the ticket for driving without them. They are just a cheap universal set that comes in a roll and you cut them to fit your truck and screw them on. I don't remember the brand but they were $75.00 for the kit.
