The time taken for perennial seeds to germinate varies from species to species. Some take a few weeks or months while others need up to 2 years. Not all seeds germinate at the same time and most species DO NOT have a 100% germination rate. Some species need to be chilled, scarified or soaked in water in order to germinate. This applies to several species of vines, trees, shrubs, tropicals and large seeds.
COMPLETE Planting Instructions are available at the bottom of our website https://bloomoutlet.com under “Seed Guides”. There are 3 long pages of planting instructions for each type. DESCRIPTION:
Syringa josikaea, commonly known as Hungarian lilac, is a charming flowering shrub that originates from the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe. It belongs to the family Oleaceae, which also includes olive and jasmine plants. With its graceful form and delicate blossoms, Syringa josikaea adds a touch of elegance to gardens and landscapes.
This lilac species typically reaches a height of 8 - 10 ft (2.4-3 m) and has a slightly more compact growth habit compared to other lilac varieties. The leaves are ovate and dark green, providing an attractive backdrop to the flowers. The show-stopping feature of Syringa josikaea is undoubtedly its fragrant blooms.
Hungarian lilac flowers appear in late spring to early summer, forming stunning clusters of deep lilac-pink blossoms. These blossoms are not only visually appealing but also emit a delightful fragrance that fills the surrounding air, attracting butterflies and bees. The flowers are known for their longevity, maintaining their beauty for an extended period.
Growing Syringa josikaea requires a sunny location with well-draining soil. This lilac variety is relatively hardy and can tolerate colder climates. Despite its continental European origin, it has proved to be surprisingly successful when cultivated in the oceanic extremes of northwestern Europe on the Faroe Islands and in arctic northern Norway north to Kirkenes. Regular watering and occasional pruning to maintain shape and remove deadwood are generally sufficient to keep the plant healthy.
Gardening enthusiasts often appreciate the Hungarian lilac for its versatility. It can be used as a standalone specimen, a charming accent plant, or as part of a mixed shrub border. Its stunning flowers and captivating fragrance make it a popular choice for creating visual interest and adding a delightful sensory experience to any garden.
If you're looking to enhance your outdoor space with a touch of elegance and fragrance, Syringa josikaea, the Hungarian lilac, is definitely worth considering. Its beauty, resilience, and captivating scent make it a cherished addition to gardens worldwide.
