Bungalow Bay Racha Yai

Bungalow Bay Racha Yai

Racha Yai-Bungalow Bay

Bungalow Bay is situated on the western side of Racha Yai Island. This is a popular dive site during the high season when the weather predominately comes from the east. It provides protection from the easterly weather and is a very good dive site to learn to dive and begin your scuba diving adventures. It is a very picturesque site and very popular with scuba divers and snorkelers alike.

Only an hour and a half day trip boat ride from Chalong Bay, Phuket, the site is divided into the north side and south side and both have similar features. There is plenty of nice white sand which makes it a perfect training site. It is ideal for both the PADI Discover Scuba Diving and PADI Open Water Course.

Book 3 Dive Trip to Racha Noi & Racha Yai

Although this is not the prettiest of dive sites in the area it does have a diverse range of marine life and if you are a fan of searching for small stuff this will keep you entertained. There are Ornate and Seagrass Ghost Pipefish and some fantastic nudibranchs that don’t seem to appear anywhere else in the region.

Kuhls Stingrays, flounder, and cuttlefish are often found lurking in the sand and the sites can often produce some big octopus as well. Common reef fish are here such as snappers, goatfish, barracuda, lionfish, scorpion fish and surgeon fish are often around.

Getting There

Dive boats go to Racha Yai every day of the week as a part of a 3-dive combo with Racha Noi. There is also a two dive trip to Racha Yai only running everyday of the week.

All scuba diving dive sites are at the discretion of the tour leader on the day. Dive sites are selected based on the weather conditions, currents, safety and suitability to majority of divers on the boat. We cannot guarantee specific dive sites prior to the boat departing.
