Gunnera manicata - Dinosaur Gunnera

New! A plant with enormous proportions. Gunnera manicata is native to the cloud forests of the Andes. In its native habitat, individual leaves can be as much as 10 feet across, making this one of the world's largest perennial plants. Growth is very fast compared to other plants. Gunneras are considered hardy to zone 7. In cooler regions they can be grown in pots and kept dormant for the winter or they can be kept growing all year in a greenhouse or Florida room in which it doesn't freeze.

A true giant among perennials. Good soil with steady moisture, by a pond or stream perhaps, and a great deal of space, is all you need to enjoy this magnificent plant.
