Like what you see?

How to use embossing powder is one of those subjects I love to chat about! Embossing powder looks fairly plain and boring, until you work the magic and turn it into metalic shiny goodness on a card, like this one. Isn’t it pretty? Heat embossing is one of those techniques that always gets a lot of “wow”, “oooh” and “ahhh” from those who see it for the first time – I always say it’s the crafters equivalent of a firework display!

How do you stop embossing powder from sticking to regular stamped parts of your design. I’m finding when I stamp my card and let it dry then use my versa marker for the embossing stamp the powder is sticking to everything
How do I prevent this? Thank you

Hi Stephanie, thanks so much for your question! I used to use something called an Embossing Buddy – but you can just use something like talc or baby powder to brush across your cardstock before adding your Versamark stamped images or Versamark marker. What this does is a) cover your stamping with a layer of dry powder, which the embossing powder won’t stick to and b) will cover up any oils from your fingers on the cardstock which draws embossing powder like magnets!
I recommend brushing this powder over your cardstock before you stamp or write with the Versamark. It shouldn’t be a huge layer of powder, just brush it over & brush it off – it might look like it still is laying on the cardstock – don’t worry, do your Versamark & embossing and then it shouldn’t stick anywhere except where you want it to!
Give it a try & let me know how you get on – you can email me directly at pip@queenpipcards.com and let me know! I would love to see your results!
Good luck & take care, hugs Pip
