Most of us would give our right arm to be in Beyoncé‘s inner circle, but Gabrielle Union is smartly keeping mum on what it means to be friends with Queen Bey.

After attending Beyoncé’s Thursday night concert in New York City, Union said she headed to the singer’s exclusive afterparty – which was just as amazing as you would expect.

“I don’t know if I had more fun at the concert or the afterparty, but it was all a magical experience,” she told PEOPLE at the party for her Ocean Drive Magazine cover on Friday night at at South Beach’s Nautilus, a SIXTY Hotel.

Unfortunately, the actress could offer no juicy details of the “magical” bash, joking, “It was like Fight Club. First rule of Fight Club, don’t talk about Fight Club, make sure you get invited back to Fight Club. But it was awesome and it was great to see Bey and [Jay Z].”

Union, 43, also opened up about how her role in the Sundance hit Birth of a Nation has changed her career.

“After that experience, you don’t want to go back to just paper chasing,” she said. “I’m not going to cure cancer in every film. Birth of a Nation is incredibly special, those scripts come around sometimes once in a lifetime. But I want to know that I’m going to work – if I’m going to leave my family for months at a time – that it’s worth it.”

That family includes husband and Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, who sweetly kissed his wife’s shoulders as she spoke on Friday. But Wade, who recently attended the pop-up launch for his collaboration with accessories line The Tie Bar, wasn’t all love-minded at the Friday night party. The 34-year-old shooting guard naturally spent much of the evening sneaking peeks at his close friend LeBron James competing in the NBA finals (James’s Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors 108-97).
