Military Cartridges

Homepage photo

My name is Jim Miles and I am a collector of military rifle and machine gun cartridges; I am one of the very few licensed collectors of live ammunition here in the UK.

In order to share my collection with others, I have photographed each and every cartridge … and there are nearly 4000 of them!  Each photograph shows a side and headstamp view of the cartridge, together with any information I have regarding that individual specimen. These are then catalogued by calibre, starting with the smallest calibre at just 4mm.  Some of these calibre headings will contain just one or two examples, some of the more popular calibres will contain two or three hundred examples.  These larger categories will have their cartridges arranged alphabetically by their country of manufacture.

If you have any questions about any of the cartridges shown I will try and help. You can contact me via jim1056@hotmail.co.uk

Feb 2023 update…

Ownership of this site has now changed hands as I am no longer collecting cartridges. The new owner is an active collector, a member of the International Ammunition Association, and can be contacted via jestertoo@gmail.com

This is my crowdsourced headstamp/manufacturer code google sheet.
