Casual Glamour With DG2 Jeans

Fashion / Wednesday, January 17th, 2018

There’s not a more versatile item of clothing than jeans. They’re the only piece from my closet that I wear almost every day, with limitless ways to go from casual to dressed up glamour. Just try thinking of something that doesn’t go with jeans. Sneakers? Perfect! Manolos? Own it! Ok, maybe jeans aren’t the right choice for some offices or a formal event (although here in Texas I’ve seen tuxedo jackets over dark washed denim and cowboy boots). Overall they’re the easiest wardrobe choice aside from a t-shirt.

But, what happens when our style choices are easy? We become complacent and can fall into a rut. Usually it’s a cycle of casual looks every…single…day. To combat this, over the past few months I’ve been challenging myself to dress up my jeans a bit more. You probably remember my post, Office Style: Business Casual Meets Chic. Throwing on a blazer is an easy way to dress it up a bit. But I don’t always want to give off an office vibe. Is there a way to achieve casual glamour? A way to look polished yet feel just as comfortable as you do in your most worn-in pair of jeans? Absolutely. With DG2, anything seems possible.

I am excited to be partnering with Diane Gilman (the “Denim Doctor” herself) on her newest collection of DG2 jeans, the UP-Lifter. I’m incredibly picky when it comes to my jeans and I’ve spent a variety of price points finding the right pair. The Up-Lifter is allover smooth and sleek with a little lift in the back. I put in the gym time and do the squats, but a little help never hurts. Who doesn’t want to look great in their jeans?

As soon as I put on the DG2 jeans I felt like they belonged with a great pair of heels. But the boot cut style, which made a welcome comeback on runways this fall, felt more casual. To create a look that reflected a balance of casual and glamour, I added a slouchy 3/4 sleeve hi-low top and block heels in a neutral shade. If I didn’t go hi-low, I would definitely tuck in my top to take advantage of the smooth cinched waistline the DG2 jeans create. Minimal jewelry in a gold tone kept the casual glamour balance and matched the gold chain in my shoulder bag (also a neutral).

Is it just me or do these jeans make for a vintage modern look, too? Well then, I guess my work here is done.
