Bid to $17,000 on 12/21/22comments-icon42Comments
1990 Land Rover Range Rover Camel Trophy Tribute 5-Speed

This 1990 Land Rover Range Rover was modified in the style of a Camel Trophy truck under previous ownership and was imported from Spain to the US before being featured on BaT in February 2017 and subsequently acquired by the seller in January 2018. It is finished in yellow over a gray leather and vinyl interior and powered by a replacement 4.2-liter V8 linked with a five-speed manual transmission, a dual range transfer case, and a locking center differential. Additional equipment includes 16″ steel wheels, Terrafirma shocks, an Old Man Emu steering stabilizer, rock sliders, a front brush bar, a rear receiver hitch, an air intake snorkel, air conditioning, an AM/FM cassette stereo, a sunroof, and a roof rack with a full-size spare, Jerry cans, recovery traction boards, and Hella driving lights. This Range Rover Camel Trophy tribute is offered with partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The body is said to have been refinished in Sandglow under previous ownership and features Camel Trophy and Land Rover decals. Exterior equipment includes a front brush guard, an air intake snorkel, a sunroof, a custom rear receiver hitch, mud flaps, LED headlight bulbs, rock sliders, and a roof rack with Jerry cans, recovery traction boards, and front and rear auxiliary lights. The upper tailgate assembly, tailgate side latches, and rear bumper end caps were replaced under current ownership. Noted flaws include dents and paint scratches as well as corrosion on the roof and rear body panels.

Yellow-finished 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 245/70 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, and a full-size spare is stored atop the roof rack. The truck rides on a 2″ lifted suspension with Terrafirma shocks, Atlantic British suspension bushings, and an Old Man Emu steering stabilizer. The power steering pump was replaced following the seller’s acquisition of the truck, and sway bars were installed at the same time.

The front bucket seats and split-folding rear bench are upholstered in gray and accompanied by color-coordinated door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks. The heater blower motor resistor was replaced in 2018, and the front seats were reupholstered in gray vinyl by Ed’s Auto Upholstery of Austin, Texas, in 2022. The wood interior trim shows wear, and the seller notes that the sunroof drain tubes leak.

The replacement 4.2-liter Rover V8 was installed by Austin Rover Works of Austin, Texas, in December 2018 and is equipped with a muffler heat shield, an aftermarket oil cooler, and aluminum radiator with twin electric puller fans. Work performed under current ownership has included replacing the battery, serpentine belt, motor mounts, and fuel and water pumps. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. The truck is equipped with a steering linkage skid plate, and the clutch and clutch cylinders as well as the viscous coupling and rear differential assembly were replaced under current ownership.
