Description
The German Hebel 1894 signal flare pistols was developed in Germany at the end of the 19th century and adopted by the Army on April 30, 1894. Production in Germany took place at three plants: Greifelt (G. & Co.), Fritz Lagenhahn (FL), and JG Anschütz (JGA). After the end of the First World War, Belgium received many copies as part of war reparations, and the production was taken by the Belgian Francotte and DELU factories. They were used by the armed forces of Belgium until the outbreak of the Second World War. German pilots often carried this type of flare pistol to shoot at British Aircraft and Balloons.
