5 Common Benefits of a Shadow Box Fence

5 Common Benefits of a Shadow Box Fence

The idea of homeowners putting a fence in their respective yards means that the choice can vary with regard to what type is installed. Some like the look of vinyl or chain-link, while others prefer the aesthetics that are connected to the wooden fence. When it comes to the latter selection, the type that’s ultimately chosen might be a shadow box fence.

Listed below are five common benefits a homeowner can receive when they choose to have a shadow box fence installed:

Economically Friendly

For those debating about which particular style, cost considerations can often be part of this dicey equation. Going with wood as opposed to vinyl will help keep some more money in a homeowner’s pocket without having to sacrifice or even compromise on getting the most for your money.

More Air and Light

Any type of wood fence doesn’t have to represent a vision of walling yourself off from the world. That’s one of the reasons why the shadow box is one of the more popular choices. Among the chief reasons for that are connected to the amount of air and light that come through on a daily basis.

The cool breezes during a hot summer day can often be soothing for someone simply looking to relax, with the natural light shining through offering a brighter atmosphere. The shadow box is one wood fence that manages to provide both to a homeowner.

Increased Durability

The spacing that’s a part of this type of fence allows for the dilution of impact for any heavy winds or even ones that are sustained over a period of time. Choosing a standard picket fence won’t provide that same level of ability to withstand any onslaught, which many residents of Texas see on a yearly basis.

Establishing Privacy

For those homeowners that do prize their solitude, the shadow box is the type of wooden fence that provides it. At the same time, it doesn’t automatically preclude neighbors from being blocked off and also looks nice on their side of the fence. Those are two components that help establish the best of both worlds and help explain why this is also known as a friendship fence.

Enhanced Property Value

The initial investment for this type of fence can still make some people wonder whether or not they should take the plunge and have one installed. When looking at the long-range picture, the answer clearly comes into focus, given the likely boost that’s received when the home is ultimately sold.

A home curb’s value is immediately evident when it has the shadow box as part of its property. Some fences are geared toward making sure that only the view from inside that property is addressed. However, since the look is the same on both sides, any passerby or potential home buyer has a more positive viewpoint toward that residence.

Project: Wood Fence - Repair

Windgusts knocked a portion of our fence down into a neighbor's yard. We needed new posts to be cement-set, and a full 1/3 of our fence to be replaced to be more sturdy. We also wanted our fence to be re-stained and sealed. After our fence was knocked down, we began a fervent search online to find a fencing company that was local, legitimate, and seemed to have a strong ethical commitment to their clients. Several out of state companies rush into areas with wind gusts to repair the fence poorly, and then take off so that their warranty isn't enforceable. As Good As New LLC is a long-standing company in the area, and had a faith-based business ethics system that was attractive to us. They sent an inspector out to give us an estimate, and his knowledge-base on good fencing was very impressive. They didn't try to upsell us whatsoever, and even prevented us from spending money on some 'upgrades' than we were planning on that weren't worth it for our situation. Their team completed the re-fencing, sealing, and staining in less than one day. They were kind enough to re-do a few of our sprinkler heads in the backyard to make the water flow more efficient with the positioning of the new fence. The price was great for a fantastic job, and our fence is by far the best on our street. :)
